Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate - Dades Valley

On the first day of the 4 day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech. The journey begins with a drive through the high Atlas mountains, crossing the Tizi N’tichka pass, which offers stunning views at an elevation of 2260 meters.

You’ll have the opportunity to visit the Ait Benhaddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its historical significance. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Ouarzazate, where you can capture memorable photos near the Atlas film studios and admire the picturesque Taourirt kasbah in the town center.

Finally, you’ll head to Kalaa M’gouna and Boumalne Dades for an overnight stay at a hotel, where you’ll also enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Dades - Todra Gorges - Erfoud - Erg Chebbi

The journey continues towards Tinghir, passing through Boumalne du Dades and stopping for a panoramic view of the Dades Valley. The drive then takes you to Todra Gorges via Imider and Tinghir, where you can explore the narrow valleys and admire the spectacular landscapes.

In the afternoon, the tour proceeds to Tinjdad for a lunch break, followed by a visit to Erfoud, renowned for its fossil manufacturers. The next destination is the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, or Merzouga Dunes as it is known.

Upon arrival at the edge of the dunes, prepare for a camel trek lasting around an hour and a half, allowing you to witness the mesmerizing sunset in a joyous and adventurous atmosphere. As you peacefully ride on the back of your camel, listening only to the sound of its footsteps on the sand, you will reach the desert camp for an overnight stay in a traditional nomad tent.

Indulge in a delicious dinner and enjoy entertainment around the fire, including Berber drums, before settling in for the night in a well-equipped desert camp that offers all amenities amidst the tranquil beauty of the desert.

Day 3: Merzouga Desert - Nomads Families - Erg Chebbi

On the third day of the 4 day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes, you’ll have the opportunity to witness a stunning sunrise in the middle of the Sahara desert. Wake up early and climb to the top of a dune near the camp to experience an unforgettable sunrise, surrounded by the vastness of the desert.

After enjoying breakfast and refreshing with a shower, you’ll ride the camels back to Merzouga. From there, the exploration continues as you discover the Erg Chebbi region and its charming villages. This area is known for its expansive sandy desert, including the famous Big Dune of Morocco. You’ll also follow the route previously used for the “Paris – Dakar” rally and explore the black desert.

Make a stop at a viewpoint to admire the panoramic view of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Next, you’ll visit Kamilia Village, where you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea while listening to a traditional Gnawa music concert performed by the local residents, who have their origins in Mali.

Another stop will be at Mefis, a small abandoned village that still holds remnants of the lead mines and other minerals from the French colonial era. Along the way, you might encounter a nomadic family living in tents, providing you with the opportunity to learn about their customs and way of life.

Finally, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation, where you’ll have free time in the afternoon to explore the town or enjoy the dunes near the hotel to witness a breathtaking sunset. The day concludes with dinner and a comfortable night’s stay at the hotel.

Day 4: Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Azrou - Fes

On the last day of the 4 day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes, the journey begins after breakfast by heading north through the Tafilalet palm grove, the largest in the country. As you drive along the 20-kilometer road, you’ll be surrounded by thousands of palm trees. A stop at the Ziz valley offers a magnificent view of the valley and the town of Aoufous.

Continuing the trip, you’ll make a stop in the city of Midelt, located in the heart of the Atlas mountains, where you’ll have free time for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, the journey proceeds through the Cedar forest of Azrou, where you may have the chance to spot Barbary Apes near the road.

The next destination is the city of Ifrane, situated on the northwestern slope of the Middle Atlas at an elevation of 1630 meters. With its wide avenues, clean urban development, green areas, gardens, and unique architecture, Ifrane bears a resemblance to a Swiss town. It is often referred to as “the Moroccan Switzerland” and even boasts a popular ski resort called Michlifen.

Around 6 pm, you’ll arrive in Fes, where you’ll be transferred to your accommodation, marking the end of the 4 day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.
