This 3 days desert trip from Fez to Marrakech will start via the Merzouga Desert from your hotel in Fez where our guide will pick you up and then end the road towards Merzouga passing the most beautiful tons of Ifrane and stopping to see the money in the Cedar Forest of Azrou and the Ziz Valley. In the following days, you will walk along the magnificent Todgha Gorge and visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou before checking into your hotel in Marrakesh.
We leave Fez heading towards Ifrane, a beautiful mountain village referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” and then on to Midelt. During this trip you will see glimpses of the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains. Stop at Azrou, a Berber village located in the middle of the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you can see Barbary monkeys.
After some time in the forest, your journey to Midelt continues along the magnificent hills and mountains of the Atlas. After the city of Midelt you will travel through the magnificent Tizi-Ntalgamet Pass and the Ziz Gorge, enjoying views of the High Atlas Plateau. You will notice how the scenery changes to reveal glimpses of the desert as you approach the city of Errachidia. Here you will have lunch and enjoy Berber hospitality.
Next, you’ll travel along the luxurious Ziz Valley, stopping by panoramic views along the way to Erfoud and Rissani. Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. You will be welcomed with a cup of tea before a full embrace with the camels, guided by an experienced camel man exploring Merzouga’s golden sand sea. To eat in front of the tent where you will spend the night.
“Rendezvous with the sunrise” If you are in the middle of the desert, waking up early is a “must do” to admire the most amazing sunrise you have ever seen at the top of the high sand dunes near the camp and enjoy this landscape that is a gift from nature and then we return To Merzouga on the camels where a hearty breakfast awaits us. We leave the desert after breakfast to Rissani where we will visit the market (market days: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), and then continue to Erfoud where we can visit petrified marble factories before we start our way to Torouj and Nakhil Tinjdad.
After one hour we will reach one of the best places in the High Atlas, the Todra Gorge. The riverbed has carved the valley into the cliff side, thanks to its beauty and speed-setting sides that are popular among runners. It’s time for dinner at this wonderful place.
It is recommended to run the remote control through the valleys to better appreciate the natural beauty. In the afternoon, we continue to the Dades Valley, also known as the Fig Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades and stopping at the “Monkey Legs”. Radio and night in the distress of Dades.
We can enjoy one of the views of the Dades Valley from one strategic vantage point in the mountains, and from there we can admire the large number of kasbahs and the picturesque characteristics of each one. Then we continue our route, which includes various kasbahs of tourist interest. After stopping for a while to enjoy the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs”.
Valley of Roses and the large Skoura palm grove We will arrive in Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, the ancient seat of the Glaoui or Pasha of Marrakesh. If you are interested we can visit the film studios and the film museum on Tuesday. After an hour from Ouarzazate, we will stop at the Ksar (fortified village) in Ait Ben Haddou where we will visit the famous Kasbah (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986).
Famous films were filmed in this specialized stage, including: Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penelope Cruz…etc. Lunch time in the city. In the afternoon, our journey to Marrakesh began by passing through the mountainous port of Tizi-N Tichka with some agreements. Then we leave the view of the moon to reach another view full of colors. We will arrive in Marrakesh around 6pm, then we will transfer to the hotels and our services will end.
