This 10-day Morocco itinerary begins with a choice of airport or accommodation in Fes. Then we dedicate a day to exploring the highlights of Fes with a local guide. The city is considered one of the imperial cities in addition to being the cultural and religious center of Morocco.
First, we start the day by visiting the Royal Palace Gate. Then the well-preserved medieval Medina, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will visit the Blue Gate or Bab Boujloud, the entrance to the old city.
You will enter the city to visit the Bou Inania School, the Najjarine Fountain, and the tanneries. Finally, the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, the oldest university in the world. After that we leave Medina to visit the Jewish Quarter also known as “the Mellah”. In the afternoon, drive to the Old Citadel for a panoramic view of the Medina and Fes. Finally, return to your riad.
After a warm breakfast, we head south via Imouzzer to visit Ifrane. The city is famous for its low temperatures, snow and houses with Alpine-style architecture – no wonder it is called the Switzerland of Morocco. Then we continue to the cedar forest, where the Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them while wandering through the forest. We then continue to Midelt where we will have free time for lunch. Then we head to Merzouga via the Tizi-N-Talghamt pass and along the Ziz Valley. Stops will be made along the way for panoramic views.
In the afternoon we reach the Merzouga desert. Then you turn into camels and cross the sandy desert. You will stop at the top of a high sand dune to enjoy the sunset. Finally, continue on to the desert camp. The camp combines traditional Bedouin tents with the luxury of a hotel. Where you can enjoy Berber drum music, while dancing around a campfire, under a wide-open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Waking up early in the morning is a must, in order to admire the beautiful sunrise, in the middle of the desert. Free time to eat breakfast. Then return on the camel to Merzouga where the driver will wait for you. We dedicate today to exploring the Merzouga region. The area has many stunning sites, from sand dunes, wild lakes, mines and fossil areas to picturesque oases. They are ideal places for many outdoor activities.
First, we start our trip in Merzouga, driving off-road to visit an old Kahl mine. Then we visit the Bedouins in their hand-woven tent. Learn how they live while drinking Berber tea. Our next destination is Khamlia village, where you will enjoy Gnawa music and dance performances. Its population comes from sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan and Niger.
Free time for lunch in a restaurant. Afterwards we take a walk through a grove of palm trees. Then drive a few kilometers to see the Merzouga Wild Lake, also called the Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we leave the desert to visit the city of Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains a major commercial center in the region, with a large, lively market on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
After a stroll through the Rissani market, we continue on to Erfoud, where we visit one of the petrified marble workshops. Then we drive through Torque and Tanjadad palm groves to reach the Todra Gorge. The course of the Todra River has formed a large valley through the mountains, creating a high red valley on the cliff side. These valleys are an ideal place for rock climbers. Feel free to wander through the valleys and enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
Free time for lunch in a restaurant. Then we continue our way to Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades. Inevitable stops at the “Monkey Toes” rock formation. On the top of a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley. Finally, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we continue our trip to Kelaat M’Gouna to visit the Valley of Roses. The Rose Festival is held annually in May. Where local residents offer their rose products, from perfumes, rose water, oil, to cosmetics. Then we walk through the palm groves of Skoura. We then arrive at Ouarzazate, also known as the Gate to the Desert. We will visit the studios where famous films were filmed.
We go to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. The fortified village is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah also appeared in many films, including: Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy…etc. and TV series including Game of Thrones. Then we continue on our way to Marrakech. Driving through the Tizi n Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Will stop for lunch and take pictures at interesting places. Overnight in the riad, Marrakech.
After a warm breakfast, we will explore the highlights of Marrakech with a local guide. The city is considered one of the four imperial cities in Morocco. The visit includes: Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Quran Mosque. And a picnic in the largest traditional market in Morocco.
Free time to have lunch near Jemaa El Fna Square. After that, you will visit the largest Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech, and the Majorelle Garden. Finally, move to your accommodation. Feel free to tour Jemaa el Fna on your own.
After breakfast, we head west to Essaouira. On the way we will stop to see the Argan tree goats, as well as to see panoramic views. We arrive at the former city of Essaouira Mogador, which is one of the important coastal cities in Morocco. The city is famous for its diverse seafood, beautiful beaches and surfing. We will visit the fishing port, the old walls with cannons as well as the old city. Finally, transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Essaouira.
After breakfast, the 10-day Morocco itinerary continues to Casablanca. We start from Essaouira and walk along the coast to reach Casablanca, the economic center of Morocco. After breakfast, we explore Rabat, one of Morocco’s imperial cities and the current capital. It is located northwest of Morocco on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. You will visit the most prominent landmarks of the city, including: Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and also the Kasbah of the Udayas.
Free time for lunch. In the afternoon we head north through Ouazzane to reach the blue city of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. The city is famous for its blue-painted buildings and alleys. Overnight at the hotel.
On the last day of your 10-day Morocco itinerary depending on the time of your trip, you can have free time to stroll through the beautiful alleys of the Blue City. Then we drive through the Rif Mountains to reach Tangier. Finally, we drive you to the airport. End of tour.
